Meet jamie lynn hughes

Hey there!

 

I'm Jamie Lynn Hughes, that broad up there in all those pictures. But you can call me JLH if you'd like. Lots of people do. You're probably wondering about my fitness street credentials and what makes me even worth listening to. That's what these "about me" pages are supposed to be for, right?

Well, to answer your question, how about we begin with the most impressive entry on my fitness resume? I am a Ms. Bikini Universe pro competitor and I have lots of trophies, a bunch of show promo posters with my face on them, and a small handful of publications that wanted me staring back at you from their pages, too. Sometimes, when I'm not competing, I'll be asked to judge or even host one of these events. It's all very cool, and I enjoy it a lot, but what does that mean to you?

Honestly, it's all just this thing the buzzword inventors like to call "social proof." I've gone through the steps to achieve the kind of physique that most people have in mind when they set out to exercise in the first place. That's honestly all it's worth, except for the fact that I enjoy it immensely. This is not the only work I've done in fitness though! In 2011, I earned my CPT with NASM and became a personal trainer. Three years later, I became the co-owner of a CrossFit box and an event management company that ran very successful regional CrossFit competitions. I tell you what... I was barely respectable as a CrossFit competitor. But when it came to running a CrossFit competition, boy was I good at it. And I really really loved doing it, too.

After moving to Los Angeles in 2018, I snagged a training gig at this EXTRA FANCY gym in downtown (and when I say fancy, I mean to the tune of nine million dollars). Within a couple months of starting there, I was promoted to Fitness Manager and very recently took on the role of Marketing Coordinator there as well.

The point is this: I've been in this business for almost a decade now and I know what I'm doing. I know the mistakes people make and which mistakes are generally pervasive for large groups of people. And I'm very good at coaching people away from that. The key to fitness is not in any particular workout methodology or found in some special diet. The key is finding a way to fit fitness into your life. And from there, modifying your lifestyle, slowly, so that it becomes a function of your everyday expectations and routine. The best plan is always the one you're most willing to follow. Period.

So, now that all the serious stuff is out of the way, let's move on to the fun stuff, shall we? I like fitness stuff just fine and all but here are some other things I like a lot too: armchair storm chasing (which is no fun to do in LA by the way...), gluing hundreds of Swarovski crystals on to just about anything, classic rock (particularly Motley Crue \m/ ), ALL the dogs but especially boxers, old American muscle cars, The Phantom of the Opera (Ramin Karimloo is best Phantom and I will hear no argument on this), graphic design (did I mention I have merch for sale??), and purple. Everything purple. I will take all the purple things.
